Where it all began

In 1971, recent college grad Kevin Koenig opened Waterbed City in Fort Lauderdale with just $1,500 in savings. He was soon joined by his brother Keith, and the two grew the business quickly, selling waterbeds for the groundbreaking price of $29.95.

As the years passed and the industry changed, the brothers changed with it, reinventing the brand as CITY Furniture in 1994 and expanding into furniture and decor. That entrepreneurial spirit and relentless commitment to value have since made CITY one of the Top 100 Furniture Retailers—and today, the 15th largest furniture retailer in the USA.

Keith's son Andrew has stepped into the role of CEO, leading the company alongside his father and carrying the entrepreneurial spirit forward. Together, they continue to evolve the brand—most recently transforming into CITY HOME, expanding far beyond furniture to offer everything you need for every room, all in one place.

The vision is simple but game changing: A better shopping experience where style, selection, and unbeatable value all come together, grounded by a culture of giving back. It's a mission shared by the whole family, including Andrew's wife Deana and their three children, Aaron, Daya,
and Christian.

CITY HOME began as Waterbed City in 1971, founded by Kevin Charles with a mission to exceed customer expectations, offer exceptional service, and provide quality furniture at unbeatable prices. In 1994, as our selection and footprint expanded, we rebranded as CITY HOME.
